Simple wound care services – phone booking system now available

NHS North East London in partnership with local GPs and North East London Foundation Trust (NELFT), is currently trialling a new service in Barking and Dagenham, Havering and Redbridge for patients requiring simple wound care.

The pilot aims to improve the experience for patients and reduce the number of attendances at A&E and Urgent Treatment Centres (UTC) by providing a high-quality service in local communities. 

The service launched on 1 October 2022 with appointments available through an online booking system. A telephone booking facility has now been added and will be live from 1 June to support patients who are unable to book appointments online.

This scheme has been developed based on the learnings from the recent phlebotomy pilot which has significantly improved services for patients needing blood tests in the three boroughs. The simple wound care pilot runs from 1 October 2022 until 31 March 2024.
