Whipps Cross Hospital - updates on redevelopment programme

Whipps Cross Hospital is hosting a public meeting to present updates on its redevelopment programme, to answer questions and to hear the views of local people.

The hospital will be seeking views on site redevelopment options which show how the whole site could be developed in future, including the possible location of a new hospital, car parking and areas which are likely to comprise residential, commercial, other health and social care uses and leisure facilities.

The views of patients and the public on these options will be considered when refreshing the strategic case for the redevelopment of Whipps Cross, which the hospital will present to NHS England and NHS Improvement early next year.

The hospital will also give an update on the work which has been undertaken by health and care professionals from the hospital and across the local area, which suggest how healthcare could be delivered in the future, both at the hospital and in the community.

Public engagement with the redevelopment work during 2019 so far has included meetings with 40 community groups and speaking to over 700 people about what matters to them in relation to the redevelopment,  meetings with patients’ representative groups, including the hospital’s Patients’ Panel, and the establishment of a Community Engagement Action Group.
