The Accessible Information Standard (AIS) is a mandatory and statutory requirement that applies to all providers of NHS and publicly-funded adult social care services and came into force on 31 July 2016 .
It is underpinned by the Equalities Act -

Visits were conducted across 3 hospital departments (Audiology, Eye Clinic, and the Urgent Treatment Centre/Emergency Department), and one ward (Amber A). The aim was to identify how Queen’s Hospital were meeting the (AIS) standard -

The Enter and View programme is an important part of the way a Healthwatch works. Healthwatch representatives can visit and report on premises where health and social care services are being used such as hospitals, GP Practices and care homes. -
